Adding a new service to the Master Catalog
Follow the steps below to add a new Product/Service to the Master Catalog, allowing you to add new products/services to your primary Catalog.
Open the Catalog
Go to
Inventory > Catalog.Click the
+ New Product / Servicebutton in the top-right corner.
Select Type and Sub Type
In the new item screen, choose the Type of item you want to add.
For this example, select
Service, then chooseSub Type"Other."The options and fields you see later will depend on the
TypeandSub Typeselected.
Search for an existing Product/Service
In the
Productfield, start typing the name of the product or service you want to add (ex. enterInterestto represent interest paid on an invoice).Review the list of matches that appears beneath the field and confirm whether any existing items meet your needs.
Use “Add as New Master Product” when no match exists
If none of the suggested products/services accurately match what you are trying to create, click
Add as New Master Productat the bottom of the list.Note: This option is always available, even if there are one or more close matches, and is used to add a brand new item to the Master Catalog.
Complete the New Product Quick Add modal
After selecting
Add as New Master Product, theNew Product Quick Addmodal window will appear.Fill in the fields for the new product or service.
Note: Fields marked with an asterisk (
*) are required. The fields shown will vary based on the selectedTypeandSub Type.
In many cases (such as the
Interestservice in this example), the fields may already be populated correctly; review them and make any necessary adjustments.When finished, click
Saveto add the new Product/Service to theMaster Catalog.
Use the new Product/Service in your Catalog
After saving, the newly created Master Product/Service becomes available for selection in the Product field.
Continue adding the item to your Catalog entry and use it on invoices or other workflows as you normally would.
